Today’s #HCSHeroes Spotlight is Michelle Bettis, the Technology Integration Coach for the Office of Innovation. Mrs. Bettis designs with schools, teachers, students, and stakeholders to bring innovative learning to all students, regardless of circumstances.

“Michelle helped walk me through the new platform tirelessly. I remember contacting her on a regular basis. She is my heroine,” said an anonymous teacher. “I now know how to use Canvas and many other apps because of her. She is kind and helpful to everyone. Her PD sessions are fun, useful, and easy to understand. HCS is fortunate to have Michelle Bettis!”

Mrs. Bettis, who began teaching in 1997, spends her days helping acclimate our teachers to new and innovative technology. The Office of Innovation team supports cohorts of teachers with similar passions for innovative practices. She also ensures they feel connected, knowledgeable, and most importantly valued as members of HCS.

For the past year, Mrs. Bettis and the Office of Innovation team have pivoted to support distance learning initiatives and provide professional development to support teachers during in-person and remote learning. Mrs. Bettis played an important role supporting the teachers of HCS through the pandemic.

“I have the pleasure of creating engaging and empowering learning with a transformative team of forward-thinkers.,” said Mrs. Bettis. “When the dust settles from this past year, I anticipate even more opportunities to create, design, and imagine the future of education.”

Mrs. Bettis adds, “Throughout my tenure with Hamilton County Schools, I have worked alongside so many exceptional teachers and leaders.  I am so grateful for colleagues who supported my professional growth as an educator while inspiring me to learn for life.”

The efforts of our teachers and staff are truly heroic, and we are proud to have people like Mrs. Bettis on our team to support our students!
