Leadership HCS

Informed leaders, transformed communities

Purpose: To create opportunities for a diverse group of community stakeholders to experience Hamilton County Schools in a unique way. Participants will experience both the successes and challenges of how our leading school district is able to provide excellent support to our students. 

Mission: To enhance the understanding of public education in Hamilton County, leading to better-informed public servants and business/civic leaders.

Program Goals:

  • Broaden participants' knowledge of the school district
  • Increase the strength and effectiveness of our educational advocates
  • Equip participants with the skills to respond to challenges of the school district and public education
  • Provide opportunities for contact between community leaders, district leaders, and schools 

Applications are closed for Leadership HCS 2021-22. Applications for the next class will open in early Summer 2022. 


Program Details:

  • Applicants must reside or be employed within Hamilton County and be at least 21 years of age at the time of application. 
  • Leadership HCS requires full participation, and cohort members are expected to attend all sessions. 
    • September 2 - 8:00am-12:30pm
    • October 7 - 8:00am-12:30pm
    • November 4 - 8:00am-12:30pm 
    • January 13 (Principal for a Day) - 8:00am-1:30pm
    • February 3 - 8:00am-12:30pm
    • March 3 - 8:00am-12:30pm
    • April 7 (Graduation) - 8:00am-1:00pm
  • Tuition is $100. 
  • The application deadline is Thursday, August 12.
  • An application review committee will review all applications and select up to 20 participants. All applicants not selected for the 21/22 program may apply for a future Leadership HCS class but must reapply.
